Maya Bennardo

Sonic fragility and temporal stasis.

A world of fragmented melody, shrouded by a veil of grainy wind, held within the metal-wound walls of the four strings

Melodies, ordinary yet profound in their ability to transmit simplicity.

A slow harmonic exploration, with each tone a small gift.

Maya Bennardo is an active performer and composer living in Stockholm, Sweden, who specializes in blurring the boundaries between composers and performers, and is devoted to performing music of the present.

Maya is a sought-after chamber musician and soloist, with recent highlights including recording residencies at the Elektronmusikstudion (EMS) in Stockholm, Sweden and performances at Darmstadt International Music Institute (DE).

Her compositions are characterized by slow, unfolding timbral movements--exploring the co-existence of pitch and noise, which has grown naturally out of her improvisational practice on the violin.

Bernat Boronat

Dark ambient dub, yet both playful and meditative.

Hailing from Spain, currently an active regular of the Rotterdam creative music scene, Bernat Boronat elevates the bass clarinet to something higher, or more precisely, somewhere deeper, beyond its tricky sonoric nature. Tricky, in the sense that the bass clarinet, such as the baritone sax, if not extensively explored, can sound like a gimmick, evoking comical figurative scenes. His style is a great example of what is commonly referred to as 'emancipated music'. Not only the performer themselves, but also, and not unimportantly, the instrument.

Through extended techniques such as the use of circular breathing, the implementation of alien objects such as a variety of hoses and a clever use of amplification through a condenser microphone, he yields textural, non-figurative sounds and deep drones, wherein multiphony, timbre and tone color take the lead.
